The Town of Fort Qu'Appelle is nestled in the scenic Qu'Appelle Valley a short 45-minute drive east of Regina on Highway #10.
History
In the late 1700s and early 1800s fur traders established a post here and in 1864 the Hudson Bay built a trading post where the Town's museum is presently located.
In 1880 the Royal North West Mounted Police established a barracks on the site of what is now the Echo Ridge Golf Course.
In 1885 General Middleton made his headquarters here before moving on to Batoche.
Fort Qu'Appelle has grown with its rich history to a bustling service and institutional centre boasting a growing town population in excess of 2000.
Economic Information
The Town has approximately 160 businesses with most centered on trades, construction, services, hospitality, and government.
The current economic strategy of the Town is three fold:
First, is to continue to strengthen the infrastructure for the growing senior population.
Second, to enhance and support the key tourism industry.
Third, to promote environmentally friendly business that is consistent with the nature of the town's location and its relationship to the ecology of the Valley.
Attractions
Fort Qu'Appelle is rich in history and cultural diversity. The town and adjacent areas boast a multitude of services and historic sites. Sites include a well kept museum, a freshwater fish hatchery, camping, and travel facilities, and First Nations Governance Centre. The Métis also provide for other special sites of historical significance.
The recreational use of the Valley lakes draws anglers, campers, and hiking enthusiasts. The Valley also is home to a vibrant artists community where wares are on display at various venues throughout the year.

Fort Qu'Appelle is ideally situated to accommodate the growing demand for goods and services from an expanding Valley population. Significant growth has and is occurring in both the youth sector and the development of residential accommodation for the boomer population.
The location of the Town is ideally set as Highway #10 is the third busiest highway in the province.
The Town has the amenities for all sporting enthusiasts including fishing, hunting, organized sports/baseball, tennis, soccer, hockey, curling, and the list goes on to include one of the most vibrant snowmobile clubs in the province.
